This post will only be relevant to individuals living in the Central Illinois area. Okay, I'm going to get on my political soap box for just a minute. I know it's tempting to skip the "lesser" elections, but the upcoming election in April is going to be important for many reasons. First of all this is a mayoral election. Secondly, there are some board of education positions up for grabs and with our school district in such disarray we need to make wise decisions when it comes to the school board. Lastly, and the focus of this entry, is the Build the Block initiative.
In case you don't know what that is, Build the Block is trying to secure funds from the city to complete building projects for a new Imax theater, children's museum and other attractions near the river front. I for one will definitely be voting YES!!! Although I do not have children I spend lots of time with my nieces and nephews and am frustrated with trying to find things to do for the kids. These new business will not only be educational and fun for kids and adults alike, but think of all the jobs they will create! Remember, jobs jobs jobs? So please join with me in voting YES for Build the Block!
