I have been shamefully politically inactive. I allowed myself to be lulled into a false belief that since we elected President Obama and since we have a democratic majority in the house and senate that we would have no problem getting the progressive agenda that our President has for us passed. I couldn't have been more wrong. It was not enough to vote for change, now I see that was only the beginning. Now the real fight is happening. We have already lost the battle for a real clean energy bill. What has passed or is about to be passed is a weakened and watered down version of what President Obama envisioned. We can not afford to show such apathy with health care reform.
Please adopt my slogan, "Our choice, our voice!" This simply means that President Obama was our choice for change and now he needs our voice to make it a reality. Please take the time to call or write our members of congress and the senate. It only takes a few minutes to make a world of difference. They know that when you go to the effort of making contact that you mean business! This isn't a democrat, independent or republican issue. This is an American issue.

Stand Up for Health Care
President Obama is making every effort to fulfill one of his main campaign promises and that is to make health care an affordable reality for every American. Members of the GOP are playing political games with our lives and we need to make a stand against it. One leading republican said just last week, "If we're able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo. It will break him." I have no doubt that the individual that made that vile statement has the best health coverage available. He doesn't have to worry about paying for his kids braces. He doesn't have to worry about if, God forbid, his wife should need the best oncology care if diagnosed with breast cancer. He doesn't have to worry about having access to a cardiologist should he have a heart attack. Yet these are the kinds of concerns that plague at least 47 million Americans. I'm talking about working class folks who although they make great contributions to our society can not afford health care. Many of their small business employers can not afford to provide health care because they are fighting to keep the doors open. The worker makes just enough to be ineligible for medicare or other State programs which leaves that worker and his/her family without access to medical care. Tens of thousands of people, perhaps millions, are forced to file bankruptcy every year because of medical debt. What about the tens of thousands of people who die before their time because they had no access to basic health care which could have caught and treated many illnesses?
Please take the time to find out where the members of Congress that represent your State stand on this issue. Put faces to the tragedy of the lack of health care. Make your voice be heard. Write letters or emails. Make phone calls. Let's work with President Obama to get our health care system overhauled so that it is worthy of our great nation. No plan will be 100% perfect and without flaws, we can look to our neighbors of the North (Canada) to see that. Recent polls of Canadians say that they overwhelmingly support their national health care flaws and all over the alternative. Don't allow the republican party to continue their gamesmanship to "break" our president, when in fact they are breaking the very people they are supposed to represent.

Rev. Wright Update
As we all know the Lord called Rev. Timothy Wright home a few weeks ago. It's a blessing that his family will continue his work. Please check out the story below provided by www.yahoo.com. This goes back to Proverbs where it says to train up a child in the way he should go and he will not depart from it. Out of such tragedy and loss hope blossoms. Enjoy!

Son takes over gospel singer Wright's NYC churchAP, Jul 12, 2009 9:00 pm PDT
Gospel singer Timothy Wright's son has been installed as pastor of his late father's New York City church.
David Wright became leader of the Grace Tabernacle Christian Center Church of God in Christ during a service Sunday. The 30-year-old had been the Brooklyn church's music minister.
Family spokesman Will Bogle says several musical groups participated in the installation, a poignant celebration for a congregation that has grappled repeatedly with loss in the last year.
The Rev. Timothy Wright died in April, nine months after being injured in a car crash near Loganton, Pa. The crash killed his wife and grandson as they returned from a Detroit conference.
Wright was known as the Godfather of Gospel. He received a 1994 Grammy
