As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, there is an election coming up on April 7th. Early voting is going on now, so you do not have to wait. This is an important election for many reasons. Contested positions include mayor, city council for three of the districts, school board, the Build the Block initiative and more.
If you want to know more about the candidate's please feel free to attend one of two forums taking place this week, both at Ward Chapel A.M.E. The first is this Monday, March 23rd at 6:00 pm. This forum will feature both mayoral candidates as well as the city council candidates. The second forum will take place this Thursday, March 26th, again at 6:00 pm. Featured at this particular forum will be the candidates for District 150 School Board and city treasurer. This is your opportunity to come out and ask questions.
If you are unable to attend either of these forums be looking out for a special report inside the Peoria Journal Star which will introduce each candidate and their background.
